Gray whales, migrating north, are taking a short cut through the bay right off the coast of Angel Island. This past week whales were spotted several times in Racoon Strait, right off the coast of Tiburon.
It’s not clear why the whales are entering the bay – researchers say they could be hiding from predators or just taking a rest break.
Either way Angel Island offers great vantage points to watch the journey of these amazing animals.

Our staff got to try out our new Diggler Scooters on Angel Island. Starting March 23, 2012 the scooters will be offered as part of our two hour interpretative tours of Angel Island. Reservations best made online at Guided Diggler Tours.
The Angel Island Company is excited to announce the addition of the Diggler Electric Scooter to our guided tour offerings. Starting April 24 2012, you can make reservations to ride a Diggler and see the sites of Angel Island. Our trained tour guides will be taking groups of 4 on two tours a day: 10:30 and 1:00. It’s finally opening day at Angel Island Company and you’ll notice that our menu boards are new and improved.
We commissioned a wonderful chalk ink artist, Jacinto Magura, to give all of our menu boards a facelift. You can see his handiwork in the cafe and later this season in the Cantina.
