Holiday Hike Series
Sun, May 12 (Mother’s Day)
Holiday Hikes, led by Angel Island Docents, are a once a month hike series inspired by holidays. This Mother’s Day, give your mother wildflowers. Bring her to Angel Island to see thousands of wildflowers. The forget-me-nots will be approaching their peak bloom and cascading down the hillsides. There will be many other wildflowers including star lily, Douglas iris, Mission Bells, buttercup, Johnny Jump-up, Scarlet Pimpernel, California poppy, checker bloom and many, many more.
Meet in front of the Information Station in Ayala Cove at 10:30 am. The length of the hike will vary depending on ability of participants and hike leader. Wear comfortable hiking shoes, layered clothing, and rain gear (if pending). Bring liquids and lunch. Lunches can also be purchased on island at the Angel Island Café. Guarding the Gate at Camp Reynolds
Sat & Sun, May 18-19
Visit the soldiers and family members from the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, Philippine-American War, WWI, and WWII. Demonstrations on baking in the historic Bake House and cannon firings add to a day of stories and history come to life. This is a free event at Camp Reynolds, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.
